House to Home 2: Shiplap!

January 5, 2018
Next was to add “shiplap” above and around our fireplace. We bought our Lumber from Queen City Lumber in Charlotte. I read the lumber at Home Depot and Lowes might be cheaper but it can warp easily. We used 8 inch boards of white pine. I got a miter saw for Christmas from my in-laws. I got one so my husband would be forced to use it. Pretty smart if you ask me. We were under a time crunch to put up the boards over the fireplace so we could put our TV back up in time to watch our Clemson Tigers (sadly we lost). Once he finished with a huge section of boards, I would fill in the nail holes with wood putty. Sand the boards down. Put a primer coat on. Wait 30 minutes. Add a top coat of Benjamin Moore’s Simply White (and then put another coat on once it was dry). This lasted until 3 am.

It's 3 am but this view was worth it
